Cincinnati is only the THIRD worst city - Take that Cleveland and Detroit!!
Cincinnati is the Third least Desirable Major City to Live in
AtA new survey from PEW research asked participants where they would most like to live, and Cincinnati was third from last, take that Cleveland and Detroit!
I actually like Cincinnati (I often feel like I have to defend that to people). I’m not sure that I want to live here forever and in the middle of #snOMG with my car stuck in the street I can’t say I haven’t been dreaming about relocating south…. BUT…. still a great city… perhaps I’ll save that for another post
Some other findings of the survey:
- By a ratio of more than three-to-one, Americans prefer living where the pace of life is slow, not fast. A similarly lopsided majority prefer a place where neighbors know each other well to one where neighbors don’t generally know each other’s business. Given, this I am surprised that Cincinnati didn’t do better… Mark Twain said that he wanted to be in Cincinnati at the end of the world because everything happens 10 year later here.
- By about two-to-one, they prefer to live in a hot-weather place over a cold-weather place. Shock. Did they ask this question in the middle of a blizzard, because I am currently dreaming of living south.
- On the food-and-drink front, a slight plurality would rather live in a place with more McDonald’s (43%) than one with more Starbucks (35%). Seriously? Who the heck eats at McDonalds anymore? I mean, by choice. Maybe it’s just me.
At any rate:

Hi Krista - I’m glad to see that Cinci is above Detroit and Cleveland, at least! I liked living there - but I have to say that when I come back from Seattle, I’ll probably be kicking and screaming. I’m definitely in agreement with Seattle’s #3 spot.
That being said - having now moved across the country knowing pretty much nobody when I got here - I’m a firm believer that where you live is what YOU make of it, whether that’s the bottom of the list or the top! I think I’ll have even more fun in Cinci the second time around after having learned that life lesson.
Well said K-Dawg!! I mean come ….surprise most of the cities are in the “Smile Belt” I think people have to experience the Natti, to LOVE the Natti. The Balls will help with that….
